Mike has a friend who is a Greenwich Firefighter and also an actor his name is Guy Forte. He auditioned and got a role in the Color Purple on Broadway!! We were all very excited for him. He has been in the play for about 2 months and says it is really a dream come true. Mike got us tickets for my birthday. We went to matinee on August 26, 2007. We sat in the balcony and could see really well. Mike had purchased the tickets only a week before going and there weren't any seats closer.
We had a great time. When I say Guy come on stage I started to wave to him and Ashley instantly grabbed my hand to make me stop!! I was so excited that he was on stage. He did such a good job. He was in the cast and also played the prison guard (which is a speaking role) that day. He has a beautiful singing voice and did awesome with his lines. We went out for dinner afterwords with Guy and he said he had a really hard time learning the dance moves. I think he did a great job and I would have never known if he didn't tell me.
The pictures above are the play bill and all of us on stage facing the audience. Guy took us back stage after the show and we meet a lot of the cast. Carly is lifting up a part of the stage where Celie's letters from Nettie were hidden from her. I took the picture of Ashley and Carly. They are standing on the stage of the Broadway Theater
