Wilson Family Reunion

Mike's father came from Florida for a visit. He came with his girlfriend Nancy. Mike wanted to have a get together with his father and all of his brothers. Everyone came, Tommy Jr., Richard, Bruce, Matthew and Gary. Tommy Jr. brought his girlfriend Heather and Richard brought Vicki. We cooked out on the grill. The guys reminisced and told old stories. As the evening went on we started a bon fire and lit of a few fireworks. Richard played the guitar and everyone (tried) to sing.

Menopause the Musical

So we have gone back and forth with dates to go see this and we finally agree it is going to be Wednesday August 22. It will be my mother, my friend Lisa her friend Marissa and me going. The week starts off with me calling Lisa Sunday night to see how her weekend was and she says she is not feeling well. The next morning my mother calls and sound like she has been smoking 5 packs a day for 30 years. Lisa also calls later in the morning and says she has a fever and is delirious and feels like she is going to die. She says she feels like she is in an episode of Little House on the Prairie when everyone is sitting around and waiting for someones fever to break. She cracks me up!! The next day no one if feeling any better and I am starting to think I am going to have to go to this by myself. I speak to my mother Tuesday night and she says she will absolutely go not matter what. Lisa says try to find someone to fill in for me. Wednesday morning my mother calls and says there is NO way she can go and Lisa says I think I feel a little better. Okay, to make a long story short, my mother stayed home and me, Lisa and Marissa went. I felt so bad for my mother. I know she was really looking forward to going.

We decided to go have dinner at Barzi's which is in the same building as the show. The food is good the decor could use a little updating. The show was soo.. funny. There were some women in the audience who were laughing so hard I thought they might pass out. We all had a great time. Lisa is a trooper. She was really not feeling well but made the most of the night. Sorry you missed it Mom. You would have loved it!

Cassidy Fever

We were all so happy that Cassidy was coming for a visit this summer. We hadn't planned on seeing her this summer. Unfortunately, my grandmother died, so Chris and Cassidy came for the wake and the funeral. They flew the red eye Friday night and arrived at my house at 8:00 am Saturday morning. Cassidy never slept on the plane, but she did sleep a little on the car ride to my house. We had a big family dinner Saturday night, what great time we had. My mothers friends Louise and Joe came and told jokes all night. We all were laughing uncontrollably. Well, it was 1:00 am before Cassidy went to sleep. That girls has a crazy amount of energy. She was so well behaved at the wake and the funeral. On Tuesday we went to the beach. That was the same day the seal washed up on shore. Cassidy found a hermit crab and named him dude!! She wanted to bring him to my house so I said okay. That night, at Cassidy's request, we had a going away party for her. She was so happy. We all had so much fun during her visit. I know her being here cheered us all up. She is such a happy sweet smart FUNNY and beautiful girl. I know it sound corny, but every little thing she does amazes me. I find myself starring at her all the time. Well, Wednesday morning it was time to pack and send Cassidy home. We had a lot of tears that morning. We all missed her 2 seconds after she walked out the door. By the way, she talked us into letting Dude go home with her, so I put him in some Tupperware and a Ziploc bag and packed him in her luggage and kept my fingers crossed. Dude made it back to Utah alive!! Unfortunately he only lasted a few days.
P.S. Chirs, we had fun with you and we miss you too!!

Hairspray 7-25-2007

Again, my mother and I say every summer we want to go to NYC to see a show. This year we did it. We decided on Hairspray. We could not have chosen a better show. We had great seats. We all walked out of there dancing and singing. We also all bought hairspray t-shirts. My mother met Jerry Mathers (Beaver Cleaver). And Carly and Ashley met Ashley Parker Angel from O Town. He took pictures with them and signed their Play Bills. I have never seen them soo... starstruck before. They had smiles on there faces for the rest of the day.

Maine - July 2007

Okay, my next few posts will be out of order. I will make sure to mark them all with the date. So we decide(Mike and I) to go to Maine because none of us have been there before. Mike and I are excited, while Ashley and Carly are acting like we are sending the to brat boot camp for the summer. Seriously, the faces on these kids. We were only going for 3 days!! When we arrive in Ogunquit, the weather is beautiful, about 80 degrees, plenty of sunshine and no humidity. So we pay $10.00 to park and walk down to Perkins Cove, this little shopping, eating, fishing area. The girls refuse to come with us and sit in the car (whatever). I fall in love with this cove. It is right on the water with tons of little shops. So we are there for about an hour and feel bad for the girls and go back to the car. We need to find a place to stay and drive around for about another 3 hours. Now the girls a really happy. So we find a Hamptons Inn to stay in. It is on the main road. I wasn't to happy about this. We might as well of been staying on the Milford Post road. All the little towns were so cute, but the hotels were soooo pricey and most of them had no vacancy. So we check in, rest, shower and go out to dinner. The next day we wake up to 65 degrees and no sun!! We decided to try to make the best of it and go back down to Ogunquit. We walk to the beach and believe it or not people are actually sun bathing and swimming. The girls and I decide to take a walk to the water and stick our feet in for a few seconds. Well, that is all any of us could do because the water was so cold, your feet were instantly painfully numb. We decide to have lunch at a restaurant on the beach and then go for a walk on the Marginal Way. Mike and I thought the walk was beautiful, the girls were not impressed. After the walk, we are back in Perkins Cove were I suggest we get some ice cream and do some people watching. No one is interested. They want to go back to the hotel. So after being bored at the hotel we go out again and let me tell you it is freezing. It was still March in Maine. We have a nice dinner and then walk around Kennebunkport. The girls are showing signs of happiness. I am happy because it seems like things are looking up. The next morning we wake up to the same weather. Now, Mike has had enough and says we are going home. The girls are jumping for joy and I am not! We did stop in Kittery to go outlet shopping on the way home, that kinda put me in a better mood. As soon as we crossed the border from Maine to New Hampshire and then Mass. it was 90 degrees and very humid. When we got home it was so hot!! I sat in the sun for a while trying to thaw from that horrible Maine weather.

The Port Jeff Ferry

Me and my mother have been wanting to go on the Ferry for the past few summers, but the summer always seemed to fly by and we never went. So, this year I decided we would make it a priority. So on Thursday, Aug. 9th, me, my mother, Carly and her friend Alyssa headed to the Ferry. We left on the 3:00 pm. It was windy but the weather was perfect. As soon as we got to Port Jeff the shopping began. We had dinner at Pasta Pasta. The food was really good. Then we went for ice cream and headed back for the 7:00 pm Ferry. We were all sitting on the deck saying what a great time we had and just relaxing. The sunset was amazing. It looked like we were in the Caribbean, not the middle of Long Island Sound. I can't wait to go back next summer!!
